Tuned to the opening notes of the light-hearted song, "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling", this wind chime is a tribute to Ireland. Its lyrics were written by Chauncey Olcott and George Graff, Jr., set to music by Ernest Ball and first published in 1912. The song has been recorded by many famous singers, including Bing Crosby, Connie Francis and Roger Whittaker. This windchime's handsome sandblasted green tubes are further adorned by the shamrock which decorates the windcatcher. Our Woodstock Chimes of Ireland may not be rare like a four-leaf clover. In 1979, Grammy Award-winning musician and instrument designer Garry Kvistad created the first Woodstock Wind Chimes from an aluminum lawn chair he found in a landfill. Fascinated by the Scale of Olympos, a 7th century pentatonic scale that can’t be played on a modern piano, Garry cut and tuned the lawn chair tubes to the exact frequency of the ancient scale.
