Vintage Signed Wood Spirit Carving Cottonwood Bark Folk Art Bearded Old Man 1981

Authentic Cottonwood Bark carving of a classic Wood Spirit (also known as the Old Man of the Woods, Green Man or Wizard). Genuine '1st Generation' hand-carved piece of folk art dated 1981 & signed by the artist with initials on the back. Using the naturally thick, cork-like ridges of cottonwood bark to create incredible depth. Face features a characterful nose, deep-set thoughtful eyes & majestic flowing beard following the natural grain of the bark. This Wood Spirit has warm, protective energy, making him the perfect guardian. Measures approx. 10 1/8" height, 3 1/2" left to right & 2" front to back (significant relief depth). Flat back with pre-drilled hole for hanging. Very good condition, which is rare for 45-year-old organic material. Carving detail is very good & intact. Bark areas have a few tiny pin head pieces of debris that come off if handled. Nothing major, but wanted to mention it. White spots are merely light reflections. Piece has an aged Patina. Clean and smoke free.
