A pressure tank is an essential part of a pressurized water system that provides water pressure. The tank stores water between the diaphragm and the liner. The pressure tank reduces the number of times the pump needs to start significantly increasing the lifespan of your well pump. The tension of the diaphragm maintains the water pressure within the system ensuring proper operation of all water appliances such as a dishwasher and washing machine and provides a robust flow of water for showering. The Red Lion RL4A tank is a 4.5-gallon inline tank with a drawdown of 1.5 gallons at 30/50 PSI. It can be installed in a series or in parallel for increased system capacity. The RL4A is equipped with a 3/4-inch MNPT threaded straight system connection. The RL4A is made of heavy-duty 20-gauge cold rolled carbon steel with a 304 stainless steel connector. It has a triple grade almond paint finish. The liner material is FDA grade polypropylene. The unit is rated at a maximum working temperature of 194 degrees F and a maximum working pressure of 150 PSI. Initial set-up: The tank is pre-charged to 20 PSI in order to transport this pump safely and must be filled with air to 2 PSI below the cut-in setting of the pressure switch. For example, a 30/50 system needs 28 PSI of air in the tank. A 40/60 system needs 38 PSI. To fill the pump with air, use a standard bicycle pump and monitor the pressure using a pressure gauge (not included).For pressure boosting systems, the RL4A can be used to lesson waterhammer or hydraulic shoc vibrations. This addition pressurized bladder tank can be installed in the discharge plumbing, upstream from the pump/control device. The air charge in this bladder tank should be set to match the system working pressure. This system is NSF/ANSI/CAN 61/CAN 372 tested and certified by WQA.
