As a compression sprayer needing a compression area with air to build pressure, if the bottle is filled to the top, there will be LOW to NO pressure and water will not spray.

The BPA-free yellowish lubricant at the threads of POMO is applied to aid in opening and closing. If desired, it can be removed with dish soap and replaced with petroleum jelly.
