This is not your childhood Fairyland. This series is based on Sci-Fi fairy tale stories my son and I told each other when he was quite young. However, the narratives in these books are not kid stories; they have been written for young adults and older audiences (PG-13).Fairyland is real in one of our dimensions; but it is not the easiest place to get to. That is if you don’t happen to have a portal in your backyard. Gregory, a boy from the forests of California, stumbled on such a portal and changed the universe. The Princess of Fairyland found him alone and apparently dead. But he wasn’t dead and, worst of all, he was wearing blue jeans. Gregory had just discovered his own magic and was now expected to protect the kingdom from any and all dangers that would come. The witches, who were much more proficient with magic then the boy, were the first of many to threaten the kingdom. Many more would follow: a pink monster, dragons, dinosaurs, a space pirate and so on. You know, typical Fairyland villains. These attacks drove the Princess, who initially hated the boy, to end up working with him.But, sometimes magic isn’t enough; a solution may need both magic and science. Read more
