HomeGuard 400 is a compact water softener that removes hardness minerals and dissolved iron and manganese from municipal or well water. Its effectiveness is certified according to NSF/ANSI 44 standard: 4,900 grains/lb (697 grams/kg) of salt at a 1 lb (0.5 kg) salt dosage and 8 gpm (30 L/min) flow rate. It is also certified to reduce barium and radium 226/228 levels according to NSF/ANSI Standard 44. If the water source contains sand, sulfur, bacteria, iron bacteria, tannins, algae, oil, acids, or other impurities, pretreat the water to remove these contaminants before passing it through the device. With proper pretreatment, HomeGuard 400 removes sediment, sand, and large particles.
